Clay dug in the dead of winter from the Kootenay River. It’s the only time of year the water is low enough to access this particular patch of wild red-brown clay.
It’s worth the frozen, numb hands and wet clothes. You can even see grains of sand peeking through the rich clay.
The rim is glazed in blue.
